iDebit in Canada: its website is offline — what is known about fees, banks and sign-up

What happened to iDebit's website

On September 26, 2026, a DNS lookup for www.idebitpayments.com returned "no such domain", and the bare domain had no address record.Source [1] The last working snapshots of the site in the Internet Archive are from January 2024. From January 20, 2024, the archive records a redirect to a PayDirect address, which today shows a web-host error page.Source [4]

iDebit has published no closure notice that we could find. That is the difference from Instadebit, which announced its end dates on its own site.Source [6] So the honest status is "unconfirmed": the brand still appears on some casino banking pages, but the company's own pages are gone.

How iDebit worked

The archived FAQ describes a payment approved inside your own bank:Source [2]

1. In the merchant's checkout, choose iDebit.
2. Log in to your bank with your usual online-banking username and password.
3. Approve the payment. Your banking credentials "stay securely between you and your bank".
4. The merchant receives the payment; no personal information is shared with it.
5. Refunds from the merchant land in an iDebit balance, which you can move to your bank.

Only personal bank accounts could be used, and you had to be 18 or older with online banking at a supported bank. A payment could not be cancelled once made.Source [2]

Fees and timing in 2024

These are the last figures iDebit published, from the FAQ archived on January 19, 2024.Source [2] Treat them as history, not a current price list.

Limits were individual: the FAQ said to log in to see yours, and each receipt showed the updated limit.

The archived bank list from January 2024 named Bank of Montreal, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Desjardins, National Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank, Simplii Financial and TD Canada Trust.Source [3]

How to check a casino's iDebit option

If a casino lists iDebit, the cashier is the only place to confirm it still works:

1. Open the cashier and look for iDebit in the deposit list, not only on the banking page.
2. Check whether it also appears under withdrawals; in 2024, withdrawals went to the iDebit balance first.
3. Start a small deposit and see whether the bank login screen opens.
4. If the page fails, go back and choose Interac e-Transfer, which draws on the same bank account.

Pros and cons of iDebit today

My verdict

I would not plan a deposit around iDebit in 2026. The service may still run under a casino's cashier, but its own site, fees and support address are gone, and a payment method you can't contact is a poor place for your money. Interac e-Transfer covers the same need from the same bank account, with limits your bank publishes. The casinos that list iDebit are shown with their Interac option next to it.
